### Nebbi: President Museveni Calls on Voters to Support NRM and Maintain Peace
In Nebbi District, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM Presidential Flagbearer, addressed a massive crowd at a campaign rally, accompanied by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni. The event began with prayers led by His Grace Archbishop Luke Orombi, who prayed for a peaceful election period, unity, and prosperity in Uganda. Thousands of supporters filled the venue, waving flags and cheering as the President outlined his vision for peace, development, and stability under the campaign theme: “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”
Maama Janet emphasized the responsibility of voters during the electoral season. “We are in an electoral season. Every person who has a vote carries a responsibility, to vote for peace, to vote for stability, and to vote for continued progress,” she said. She urged Ugandans not to undermine the peace and freedom achieved, noting that “Development, prosperity, and transformation all depend on the peace and freedom we enjoy today.”
President Museveni reflected on his 65 years of service to Uganda and Africa, crediting the NRM’s ideology for fostering national unity beyond tribal, religious, or gender divisions. “In the past, political parties were divided along religious or tribal lines. That is why no party could win a majority at independence. NRM built a national movement that unites all Ugandans,” he stated. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, including roads from Karuma to Nebbi, full connection of West Nile to the national electricity grid up to Koboko, and the Nebbi–Goli road project. Telecommunications have surged from 23,000 lines under NRM’s early rule to 28 million today.
On social services, Museveni noted progress in education, with Nebbi now having eight A-Level schools compared to none in the 1960s in Northern Uganda. He pledged to enforce free education, add 50,000 teachers, ensure every parish has a primary school and every sub-county a secondary school, and complete health centers in all 16 sub-counties, where 10 already exist. He stressed household-level wealth through the Parish Development Model (PDM), stating, “Some leaders talk about development like roads, hospitals, schools but people go home to poverty. The Parish Development Model (PDM) is designed to bring wealth to every household.”
NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Hamson Obua, praised Museveni as “the pacifier of peace in northern Uganda,” calling him “dependable, reliable, and the guarantor of stability.” Hon. Emmanuel Urombi, NRM District Chairman, thanked the President for initiatives like training over 300 youth in the Presidential Skilling Hub and grid connection enabling agro-industrial growth. Nebbi, with 299,398 residents and 63 parishes, has received Shs 18.6bn through PDM, benefiting over 20,000 households, and features 89 government primary schools, 7 secondary schools, with four new Seed Secondary Schools under construction.
In conclusion, Museveni appealed for votes for NRM Parliamentary Flagbearers to protect peace, freedom, and development. “I urge the people of Nebbi to vote for our NRM Members of Parliament and support the NRM across the board to represent you well. Let us protect the peace, freedom, and development we have built together,” he said. The rally was attended by NRM Central Executive Committee members, MPs, religious, and cultural leaders.
